Clarke Speaks Participates in 7-Figure Panel at the 8 Figure Firm Conference

DENVER, Colorado – Clarke Speaks, respected personal injury attorney and founder of Speaks Law Firm with offices in Charlotte and Wilmington, North Carolina, took center stage at the 8 Figure Firm Accelerator Conference this past January 23-25, 2025. Speaks participated in the "7-Figure Marketing Panel," offering invaluable insights into the mindset attorneys must adopt when investing in large-scale marketing strategies like radio, TV, and billboards. Luis Scott, managing partner at 8 Figure Firm, moderated the discussion.

The panel included Audrey Chism of Chism Law Firm and Lorena Rivas of Rivas & Associates. Scott opened the discussion by announcing that all panel participants spend over seven figures on marketing with incredible results.

"We're going to talk a little bit about what they're doing. What I love about this particular group is that everyone is having success in a different way," Scott said.

Speaks addressed the audience: "If you're injured, who speaks for you? We do, with offices in Wilmington and Charlotte, North Carolina. We'll probably open another office in the next 12 months, as soon as I can, in Fayetteville. My marketing plan is directly off of Luis's page. We have followed the formula as closely as we possibly can. It has been very successful. Our lead acquisition cost has gone down from $4,000 down to $2,200."

"Just to clarify, your primary method of marketing is TV, radio, and billboards?" Scott asked.

"It's more complex now," Speaks answered. "We do a lot of TV, radio, and digital marketing with Josh and Vince (Josh Konigsberg and Vince Gelormine of Law Firm Marketing Pros) and social media marketing now that we're trying to get better at that."

Speaks provided the audience with a candid account of his firm’s growth from $3.5 million in revenue, highlighting the critical decisions and sacrifices that propelled Speaks Law Firm into the highly competitive catastrophic injury representation arena. Reflecting on his firm’s marketing strategy, he explained, “When you invest in channels like radio, TV, and billboards, you have to understand that the money spent today may not yield a return until next year. It takes a commitment to your vision and a belief in the long-term outcome to stay the course.”

He shared how consulting Luis Scott and leveraging his income from catastrophic injury cases allowed him to reinvest in his law firm. “We knew we wanted to scale, so we committed to reinvesting revenue into growing our team, expanding our reach, and building our brand message,” he said. “I didn’t want to just pay taxes on that income—I wanted to put it back into what I believe in, which is helping people.”

Speaks emphasized the challenges and rewards of brand building in a competitive market. “During that 12-month period, there were times I questioned whether our strategy would pay off,” he admitted. “Luis’s coaching was critical. He always reassured me, ‘This is how it works. This is how it’s going to happen.’ Looking back, staying the course was one of the best decisions we made.”

Speaks attributed much of his firm’s transformation to his team’s commitment and the focus on maintaining a growth mindset. “My family was there with me through the process, and staying consistent in the face of uncertainty was key,” he said. Thanks to this disciplined approach, he noted that the firm’s cost per case acquisition is now exactly where it should be and that its brand is more recognizable than ever.

One of Speaks’ significant takeaways from the panel was tied to the theme he and Scott chose for their coaching sessions last year: "Stay the course." For attorneys seeking to scale their practices, his advice is clear. “It’s not an easy road, but believing in how you do what you do and your team’s ability to deliver is essential to building something long-lasting.”
